Did you know the month of September is National Sewing Month? This began with a proclamation from President Ronald Reagan. In 1982, he declared this special month-long celebration “In recognition of the importance of home sewing to our Nation.” Subsequent Proclamations declared that “Tens of millions of Americans sew at home. Their efforts demonstrate the industry, the skill and the self-reliance which are so characteristic of this Nation.”
National Sewing Month is the recognition of a creative form of self-expression that we celebrate in September but enjoy all year. The month-long Open House of retailers, bloggers, online stores, schools, organizations, individuals, and more is a great time to renew interest, share ideas, be inspired, expand your knowledge, and express your creativity.

National Sew a Jelly Roll Day is also in September. This day focuses on the pre-cut fabrics quilters purchase, but don’t use for a project. These unused pieces are then stored and rolled together with other pieces, referred to as a “Jelly Roll”, and saved for a later date. Instead of keeping unused fabrics shelved, this day encourages sewers to be proactive and sew all their jelly roll pieces together for one project.
To celebrate Jelly Roll month, all Jelly Rolls are 15% off for the month of September.

September 11th, 18th and 25th
Quilting for Beginners Class - weeks 4, 5 & 6.
September 14th 1:00 - 3:00
2-1/2 inch Strip Quilt Blocks - This class we will show you several quilt blocks you can make from using a Jelly Roll or 2-1/2 inch strips. Price of the class is $25.00 and you will need a Jelly Roll.
September 16th 1:00 - 4:00
Jelly Roll Race - We will be using 1 Jelly Roll for the race and the winner will receive a prize. Price of the class is $25.00 and you will need a Jelly Roll.
September 22nd 1:00 - 4:00
Binding Class - We will show you how to bind a quilt both by hand and machine. Price of the class is $35.00 and supplies are included. Be sure to bring your walking foot.
September 23rd 10:00 - 3:00
Buffalo Lodge Table Runner and Placemats - For this project we will be using the Creative Grid Mini 60 Degree Diamond Ruler. We will show you how to maximize your design potential by cutting them from 2-1/2in strip sets. The price of the class is $55.00 and includes the pattern and ruler. When you come sign up for the class you can pick out the fabrics.

Quilt As You Go Tote Bag- This June Tailor Quilt As You Go Tote bag is a another fun project that is made using 2-1/2in strips. Price of the class is $45.00 and includes the batting and webbing for handles all you need are your fabrics. When you come in a sign up for the class you can pick out your fabrics.
