Wonky Log Cabin Topper

In this class you will learn how to accurately piece this fun and scrappy quilt block. 

The wonky log cabin quilt pattern is a version of the traditional log cabin quilt block. A perfect pattern to use up your fabric scraps. All you need is the Wonky Log Cabin Trim Tool and a rotary cutter to trim up the blocks as you sew, intentionally making them not perfectly square! 

In this class, I'll share with you tips for how to make a wonky log cabin quilt block that actually looks wonky! You can make them any size you'd like from small to one big wonky quilt block for your project or quilt!

Some people refer to this quilt block as the crazy log cabin quilt block. This scrap-buster project is a perfect way to use up those strips of fabric left from other projects.


Fabric Requirements:

Background ⅔ yd.
Yellow (1) 10” square
Pink (1) 2 ½” strip.
Mauve (1) 2 ½” strip
Teal ½ yd.
Blue ½ yd.
Lavender (1) 2 ½” strip
Purple (2) 2 ½” strips
Binding ⅓ yd.
Backing 1 ⅛ yd

Fabric Cutting for 4 wonky log cabin blocks

Background • Cut (4) 2 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut:
(4) 2 ½” x 2 ½” and (4) 2 ½” x 4 ½” for round 1.
(4) 2 ½” x 5” and (4) 2 ½” x 7” for round 2.
(4) 2 ½” x 7 ½” and (4) 2 ½” x 9 ½” for round 3.
Yellow • Cut (4) 2 ½” squares. Center square
Pink • Cut (4) 2 ½” x 4 ½”. Round 1 color 1
Mauve • Cut (4) 2 ½” x 6 ½”. Round 1 color 2
Teal • Cut (4) 2 ½” x 7”. Round 2 color 1
Blue • Cut (4) 2 ½” x 9”. Round 2 color 2
Lavender • Cut (4) 2 ½” x 9 ½”. Round 3 color 1
Purple • Cut (4) 2 ½” x 11 ½”. Round 3 color 2
